FOR SALE:

1988 Riken 16' Nez Perce Self-bailing Whitewater Raft with “new” (never been used) spare floor. Includes two frames and two aluminum dry boxes, two Cataract 10’ oars/blades, two Sawyer MXG 10’ oars/blades and other accessories. This is a 2-owner raft, always used privately, never used commercially. It has been lovingly cared for and stored folded in temperature-controlled environment. The boat has made six Grand Canyon trips, six Middle Fork trips, 6 Main Fork trips, 3 Rogue trips, 4 Salt River trips, and many of the other primary Western river trips, the last one in March 2008. Estimated total mileage over 20 years is not more than 5,000 river miles. The estimated total number of days used has not exceeded 250 days. The boat has several patches as seen in the photos but only four (on bottom side of floor) and one (on right inside of front tube) are due to punctures. All other patches applied to topside of floor were done to prevent additional abrasion damage from contact with frames. Though seemingly very old, Hypalon rafts have an ability to weather the years better than any other raft material. I would feel perfectly confident in taking this raft on many more Grand Canyon trips (if I could get permits!). However, as I get older, I am seeking to ‘down-size’ to a smaller, lighter raft or cataraft.

Check back with me in 20 years and we'll see if that 2008 model 'revolutionary' PVC / Urethane-coated raft has weathered the years as well as good old-fashioned Hypalon.
